The Rostov state medical university - one of the oldest high schools of the country. The High School has prepared more than 30000 doctors, in it has passed advanced training courses more than 35 thousand doctors, and has prepared more than 200 doctors and 1000 candidates of sciences, among which about 100 young scientists are from 19 countries of three continents.
Founded in the year 1915 as a Medical faculty of Donskoi University and in 1930 it became an independent medical institute, and now a medical university by itself. In the 64 different departments the academic process is set rolling by more than 600 teaching staff, of which 70 are professors, doctors of science and 420 candidates of science. Annually 4000 students study in the institute and nearly 3000 doctors specialize to increase their qualification.

The Rostov State Medical University has own 23 clinical facilities for carrying out of students’ curricular practical training, and also for training interns, residents and doctors under advanced professional training and retraining courses. These are contemporary health care facilities of the city and region, including clinics, located in the territory of the «Medical Campus» in Rostov-na-Donu. More than that, the Rostov State Medical University comprises an Academic Multidisciplinary Research centre of its own.

Academic Multidisciplinary Clinic of the Rostov State Medical University
The Academic Multidisciplinary Clinic traces its history back to 1973. Currently it comprises more than 10 subdivisions, including two diagnostic laboratories, the day patient department and dental department, located in a separate building and furnished with the most-up-to-date European equipment. Pursuant to its equipment the Academic Multidisciplinary Clinic meets international standards.
Highly qualified staff members work in the clinic: Doctors and Candidates of Medical Sciences, Professors; they search for new methods of diagnostics and treatment and introduce them into practice.
Students, interns and residents get familiar with activities of doctors; material for research work is actively gathered in the clinic.
Besides, students and staff members of the University are provided with free medical care in the clinic.
The Academic Multidisciplinary Clinic successfully implements preventive work technologies. In 2008 an Education Center for patients was set up. It comprises 14 Health promoting schools which are intended to develop socially significant, actual areas such as: reproductive health, arterial hypertension, obesity, diabetes, etc. Group prophylactic counseling services or Schools for patients represent a prospective form of medical preventive work.
